POSITION: Mental Health Peer Support Specialist

WORKSITE: Breathitt County Health and Wellness

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Regular Full-Time

DEGREE: High School/GED peer support certification or complete peer support training upon hire approved by Department of Behavioral Health.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Be a self identified person with history of mental illness, who has received treatment.

JOB DUTIES:

1. Use relevant personal stories to teach through experience.
2. Serve as a role model for clients.
3. Complete documentation in EMR within 24 hours of service delivery.
4. Encourage client voice and choice during development and implementation of treatment planning.
5. Support clients while receiving mental health services.
6. Empower clients to be self-advocates.
7. Help clients enhance relationships with community partners.
